Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank celebrate six years of marriage

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank celebrate six years of marriage,

Today marks the sixth wedding anniversary of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Their fairytale wedding, which was held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, was the high-society event of 2018.

The bride stunned in two figure-skimming gowns, the first designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, and the second by Zac Posen.

Both glamorous creations featured low backs to highlight a long scar from a procedure that Eugenie had to correct scoliosis – curvature of the spine – when she was 12 years old.

Ahead of the wedding, the princess spoke of the importance of scars, saying: ‘I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.’

Eschewing a traditional veil, Eugenie elevated her ensemble with the Queen Mother’s Greville emerald tiara and Charlotte Olympia shoes.

Eugenie and Jack invited 850 royals, aristocrats, VIPs and friends – 150 more than Harry and Meghan when they married at the same venue five years earlier.

Famous guests included Naomi Campbell, Liv Tyler, Demi Moore, Robbie Williams, Ellie Goulding and Kate Moss.

Arriving on the arm of her father, Prince Andrew, Eugenie was beaming throughout the hour-long service, while Jack appeared overcome with emotion.

He told his bride: ‘You look perfect’ and also ‘oh, break my heart’ as she arrived at the altar before she joked: ‘Aren’t you going to hold my hand?’.

Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who donned an emerald green wrap dress by Emma Louise Design with a hat from Jess Collett Milliner, looked tearful as she sat with her eldest child, Beatrice, to see her youngest daughter married.

As maid of honour, Beatrice wore a royal blue dress from London-based couture house Ralph & Russo, with a matching headpiece by milliner Sarah Cant.

The bride was dressed in an exquisite ivory silk jacquard gown designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.

It featured a V-neckline that folded around the shoulders to a low back that draped into a flowing full-length train.

The low back feature was specifically requested by Eugenie, who had surgery as a child to correct scoliosis.

Members of the Royal Family appeared in high spirits following the wedding ceremony

The bride carried a stunning bouquet, including lily of the valley, white spray roses, trailing iris, ivy and a sprig of myrtle, created by celebrity florist Rob van Helden.

Following tradition, it was later sent to rest on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey.

Queen Elizabeth lent the Greville emerald tiara to her granddaughter, Eugenie, on her wedding day.

The Art Deco design boasts a 93.70 carat emerald and six further faceted emeralds set on either side.

It was created in 1919 by Boucheron for Margaret Greville, a British philanthropist, and later inherited by the Queen Mother.

The emerald and diamond design was stashed in a black tin trunk and delivered to Buckingham Palace in 1943, along with a number of jewels that Margaret had bequeathed to her friend.

The piece remained in the Queen Mother’s jewellery collection until her death in 2002.

When Queen Elizabeth inherited the tiara, she revised the top edge so that it no longer resembled a traditional kokoshnik.

Princess Eugenie is the only royal to publicly wear the piece and it has since been returned to the vault.

After exchanging their vows, the couple kissed on the steps of St George's Chapel in front of 1,200 people before their short carriage ride through Windsor and back to the castle for their reception

The bridal party included Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Mia Tindall, Savannah and Isla Phillips, Theodora Williams (daughter of Robbie Williams and Ayda Field) and Louis de Givenchy (son of Zoë and Olivier de Givenchy).

Keen not to overshadow the bride and groom, Harry and Meghan entered St George’s Chapel via a side door, followed by William and Kate.

The service took on a traditional approach with a focus on hymns and choral music.

Opera star Andrea Bocelli delivered a spine-tingling rendition of Ave Maria, and Princess Beatrice read an excerpt from F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby.

Eugenie had requested her sister to read that particular passage, in which Nick Carraway’s character describes Jay Gatbsy’s smile, because it reminded her of Jack’s smile.

The royal’s wedding ring was made from a nugget of Welsh gold gifted by Queen Elizabeth – a custom that dates back to 1923.

The late monarch led the royal family at her granddaughter’s wedding along with her husband, Prince Philip.

Eugenie slipped into an ethereal evening gown, custom-made by Zac Posen.

The American designer is renowned for exquisite corsetry and draping techniques; the royal creation was on par with his signature aesthetic.

Crafted from silk plisse, the sculptural silhouette incorporated strong shoulders, a hand-pleated bodice and basque waistline that fell to the floor in a glamorous sweep.

Subtle detailing was added in the form of White Rose of York motifs, which adorned the shoulders while securing the cape. As for the alluring colour palette, it was said to reflect that of an English rose.

At the reception, organised by Queen Elizabeth, 850 guests enjoyed finger food and cake, complemented by Pol Roger champagne.

The five-tier centrepiece, made of layers of red velvet and chocolate, was crafted by London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot.

It was covered in white icing, adorned with orange leaves and dark green ivy sugar work, as well as the bride and groom’s initials around the base.

Meanwhile, corresponding flower arrangements had been created using foliage from Windsor Great Park and biodegradable oasis, following the couple’s autumnal theme and eco-friendly request.

Eugenie gasped as she spotted her wedding care: a rare DB10 Aston Martin

The father of the bride waited by the castle door and held her train as she climbed into the vehicle with the help of her older sister, Beatrice

During the speeches, Prince Andrew is said to have broken royal tradition by giving his new son-in-law a hug in front of the Queen.

Jack’s speech was ‘filled with devotion to Eugenie’ and he told his new wife she ‘lights up his life and makes him feel complete,’ a source previously told MailOnline.

After the initial reception, the couple’s star-studded guest list joined them in the grounds of the Royal Lodge of Windsor.

Poignantly, the father of the bride waited by the castle door and held her train as she climbed into a rare DB10 Aston Martin, which had originally been made for the James Bond movie, Spectre.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, laid on a fairground-themed bash as guests partied the night away, with Robbie Williams performing Angels and a host of other hits.

On October 12, 2018, the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank offered a high-society showcase at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
